I picked up the most recent issues of 52 and The Atom today. Black Adam and Isis have it out with the folks who caused Osiris’ death and the pestilence plaguing Khandaq, and the results aren’t pretty. Ryan Choi heads back to Hong Kong to rescue his high school crush from an abusive husband, who just happens to be dead. Both these books would have benefited from better art. 52 is chugging along to it’s conclusion, and I’m wondering exactly what mysteries are still left to be uncovered in the remaining few weeks. The Atom is remains full of movie references and is a hoot to read, and I shudder to think how much more I would enjoy it if John Byrne or some more disciplined graphic artist were at the helm. I’m also hoping they keep other superheroes out of the book for a while and let the “normal” people in Ryan Choi’s life help drive the plot (although I have to admit Panda is getting on my nerves).
