I’m not a huge fan of the Bart Allen [tag]Flash[/tag]. But I buy the book thinking that someday it might become an enjoyable read. So, I’m looking through “The Flash” #10, and I notice something, well, odd about the art by penciller Paco Diaz. Take a look at this panel from the battle scene between Flash and Zoom:
First, that spandex does nothing to conceal the contours of Bart’s well-defined ass cheeks. And Zoom? That pose sure does focus the readers’ attention to his crotch, doesn’t it?
And then consider this panel:
I’m sure Zoom’s ass cheeks would be just as clearly defined … were Flash’s hands not cupping one of the cheeks.
And check out the package on the Flash in this panel depicting the Flash on his knees:
And I think the general [tag]homoerotic[/tag] nature of the following panel requires no explanation:
Back in the day, when i would go to a convention or two, there was always an artist who wouldn’t mind drawing a picture or two showing superheroes in positions not approved by the Comics Code Authority.
Why do I suspect that Paco Diaz has a portfolio of these kinds of images … and that there aren’t any pictures of Catwoman or Supergirl in them?
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
As to the intended sexuality of the character, Bart lost his virginity to the daughter of some minor-league villain a couple issues ago, then promptly broke up with her. And he doesn’t seem to broken up about it.
