[tag]Sarah Michelle Gellar[/tag], she of “[tag]Buffy the Vampire Slayer[/tag] fame,” will join Christian Bale and [tag]Maggie Gyllenhall[/tag] (who’s replacing Katie Holmes) in [tag]Batman[/tag]: The Dark Knight.
In a posting from an independent filmmaker on website Whedon.info, he writes, “I had been talking back and forth with one of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s reps about a role in a new film I start shooting in May. “They expressed a morsel of interest… Unfortunately, yesterday (28MAR07) we were informed that she wouldn’t be able to do it; because there might be a clash with Batman.”
This has all the earmarks of stunt casting (vampires and bats, get it?), because while my admiration for the series is nearly without bound, it’s because of the writing, not necessarily her acting. It all depends on the role, I suppose. I just hope they try to pawn her off as [tag]Batgirl[/tag] or [tag]Catwoman[/tag]. She might make for an interesting [tag]Vicki Vale[/tag], however.
Forget the Kim Bassinger version, let’s look at Vicki from the comics, both old school (left) and new:
